I Wait All Year to Make This Refreshing Korean Dessert— The Best Hwachae Recipe

Delicious and refreshing hwachae by Sharon Hsu of sparklecakerie.com

Hi Fam,

Thirsty for the easiest and prettiest treat? Watermelon Hwachae is a Korean fruit punch made with watermelon, all your favorite fruits, and a fizzy drink that’s ready in minutes! This is a refreshing, viral-worthy dessert drink that’s no-cook and perfect for days you don’t want to turn the oven on. I love using half of the watermelon as a bowl for the cutest presentation and using cookie cutters to make fun shapes out of the fruits. Light, hydrating, and I promise you…this is going to be perfect for your next BBQ, picnic, or lazy afternoon to treat yourself! My hubby and I love making this the moment the weather gets warm. ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡

Notes

  • Don’t like bubbly drinks? Try other drinks instead like fruit juice or non-carbonated yogurt drinks like Yakult.
  • Love fruits? Add in as much fruit as you want and personalize it with other of your favorite chopped fruits.
  • Make it fun and add ice pops inside as well like Melona ice cream pops or frozen fruit juice pops!

Additional Tips:

Tip #1: Use a melon baller or fun cookie cutters to cut your watermelon and fruits into fun shapes (like watermelon stars or citrus slices).

Tip #2: I’ve found that using a long serrated knife helps a lot with cutting a watermelon! You can also use the knife to cut little triangles along the edges of the watermelon to get a decorative trimming on the “punch bowl”.
